Overview

Sirimon-Chogoria Route

The 4 Day Mount Kenya Sirimon Chogoria Route trek is one of the most rewarding ways to explore Kenya’s iconic mountain landscapes. Mount Kenya, rising to 5,199 meters, is Africa’s second-highest peak. Therefore, it offers hikers diverse terrain, rich ecosystems, and dramatic alpine scenery.

The Ascent

The journey begins along the Sirimon Route, which is quieter than other trails. It is ideal for acclimatization and features gradual ascents. As you climb higher, the environment changes noticeably. Dense forests give way to heath and moorland, home to giant heather and unique alpine plants.

Wildlife sightings are possible along the trail. Hikers often spot colobus monkeys, bushbuck, and many bird species thriving in the high-altitude ecosystems. The highlight of this trek is summiting Point Lenana (4,985 meters). At sunrise, the sky lights up with breathtaking views across jagged peaks.

The Descent

From here, the descent follows the spectacular Chogoria Route, often considered the most beautiful trail on Mount Kenya. It features unmatched natural beauty. The Chogoria trail includes waterfalls, alpine lakes, and the famous Gorges Valley. These dramatic landscapes make the descent as rewarding as the ascent.

This combination of Sirimon ascent and Chogoria descent ensures you experience the very best of Mount Kenya in just four days. Our professional guides, cooks, and porters provide excellent support. As a result, trekkers enjoy a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable mountain adventure with Wildmont Safaris.

If you prefer a longer option, explore our 5 Day Mount Kenya Sirimon Route hike. It offers more time on the mountain. You may also combine your trek with a Masai Mara Safari. This creates a unique adventure blending hiking and wildlife exploration.
