Stop At: Giraffe Centre

Duration: 1 hour

  • Begin the tour with a short drive to the Giraffe Centre after picking you up from your hotel or residence in Nairobi.
  • Get a chance to feed Rothschild giraffes under the supervision of experienced keepers. The center has rescued, hand-reared, and released around 500 orphaned giraffes since its inception in 1979.
  • The sanctuary offers opportunities to learn about the physiology, behaviors, and habitat preferences of these beautiful animals.

Stop At: David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

Duration: 3 hours

  • Proceed with a short drive to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
  • Stroll through the center, an open space surrounded by a rope fence, and observe baby elephants as they come out of the bush to greet their keepers.
  • Watch as the baby elephants are fed giant milk bottles and enjoy interacting with their caretakers.
  • Learn about each elephant's rescue story, including their age and rescue circumstances, often due to poaching and human-wildlife conflicts.
  • After feeding, observe the 2-3-year-old elephants interacting, playing, munching on branches, and enjoying mud baths.
