An Ol Pejeta day trip from Nairobi is the perfect wildlife escape if you’re short on time but still crave an authentic safari experience. Just a few hours’ drive from the city, this award-winning conservancy in Laikipia offers rich biodiversity, incredible rhino conservation efforts, and stunning views of Mount Kenya.
During the drive through Kenya’s central highlands, you’ll enjoy scenic countryside before entering Ol Pejeta—home to the largest population of black rhinos in East Africa. You’ll also visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where you can see rescued chimpanzees. As you explore the conservancy on a game drive, keep an eye out for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and the rare northern white rhino.
What makes this day trip even more special is Ol Pejeta’s role in conservation. From cutting-edge anti-poaching programs to community involvement, this conservancy sets an example across Africa. Learn more on the official Ol Pejeta website.
Depending on your schedule, you may also stop for lunch at one of the lodges within the reserve (optional at extra cost). Later, enjoy a relaxed drive back to Nairobi, arriving by evening.
